China's Commerce Ministry yesterday said the United States should completely cancel the ‘wrong practice of reciprocal tariffs’ and return to resolving differences through mutual respect and equal dialogue.

Terming Washington’s recent decision to exempt certain products from reciprocal tariffs ‘a small step’ to ‘correct its wrong practice’, a ministry spokesperson said China is assessing the impact of this decision.

This US decision hasn't solved its own problems, but have seriously undermined the international economic and trade order, disrupted normal production and operation of enterprises, and hit people's daily consumption, the spokesperson was cited as saying by Chinese media outlets.

China urged the United States to seriously consider the rational voices of the international community and the concerned domestic parties, and “take a big step forward in correcting wrongdoings”, the spokesperson added.

Meanwhile, President Xi Jinping today called for stronger ties with Vietnam on trade and supply chains amid disruptions caused by US tariffs, as he kicked off a three-nation trip to Southeast Asia.
