Prices for consumers fell by 0.1 per cent in September compared to August. It is worth noting that when making such month-on-month comparisons, seasonal factors must be considered. As a result, these short-term changes are often more volatile than year-on-year ones, CBS said in a press release.
According to the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), consumer goods and services in the Netherlands were 3 per cent more expensive in September than one year earlier. In August, inflation stood at 2.4 per cent. Across the euro area, inflation rose from 2 per cent in August to 2.2 per cent in September.
Energy prices in the euro area were lower in September, while in the Netherlands they rose year-on-year.
