The Egyptian ministry of investment and international cooperation (MIIC) recently held a meeting with members of the Egyptian Textile Industries Council (ETIC) to discuss the private sector’s possible participation in the development of the free zone specialized in textile industries located in over 317 acres at Al-Matahra in Minia governorate.

It was attended by Mona Zonaa, CEO of General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) and Fadel Marzouk, chairman of the Readymade Garments Export Council of Egypt, according to an MIIC press release.

A joint venture with a Chinese company is being set up to implement the project and work is under way to make Egypt, especially Minia, a regional hub for textile industries in the Middle East and Africa. (DS)
