Euro area inflation holds at 2% in July, EU rate rises to 2.4%

The euro area annual inflation rate was 2 per cent in July 2025, stable compared to June. A year earlier, the rate was 2.6 per cent. European Union (EU) annual inflation was 2.4 per cent in July 2025, up from 2.3 per cent in June. A year earlier, the rate was 2.8 per cent, according to Eurostat, the statistical office of EU.

The lowest annual rates were registered in Cyprus (0.1 per cent), France (0.9 per cent) and Ireland (1.6 per cent), while Romania (6.6 per cent), Estonia (5.6 per cent) and Slovakia (4.6 per cent) recorded the highest. Inflation fell in eight member states, remained stable in six, and rose in thirteen compared with June 2025, Eurostat said in a press release.

Germany’s inflation eased to 1.8 per cent, while Italy’s rose to 1.7 per cent. Spain recorded 2.7 per cent. Among the Baltic States, Estonia’s July 2025 inflation rate stood at 5.6 per cent, while Latvia’s was at 3.9 per cent.
