In August this year, the rate was 6.1 per cent.
Consumer prices in the country are expected to increase by 0.3 per cent on August figures, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reported. Core inflation, the inflation rate excluding food and energy, is expected to be 4.6 per cent in September; it was 5.5 per cent in August.
At 1 per cent, the year-on-year (YoY) increase in energy prices was much lower than the YoY rate change of the overall index. One of the causes is a base effect compared with September 2022, which was influenced by the measures of the government’s relief packages, Destatis said in a note.
