India’s Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) recently notified the reduction in the applicability of goods and services tax (GST) e-invoicing threshold from ₹50 crore to ₹20 crore with effect from April 1 this year.

E-invoicing involves the submission of an already generated standard invoice on a common government-run e-invoice portal.

E-invoicing facilitates exchange of the invoice document between a supplier and a buyer in an integrated electronic format by way of standard e-invoice schema through looping the government authorities, i.e. the invoicing portal, to keep a check on suspicious tax payers.
