Trade balance of goods on an average during the four-month period had a surplus of €5.8 billion, while there was a deficit of minus €12.4 billion during the same period last year.
The consumer confidence index rose in June, with a positive trend diffused to all its components, while the business confidence climate weakened, an official release said.
Italy’s industrial production index increased by 1.6 per cent in May this year over the April figure after four months of decline. However, on an average between March and May, the index decreased by 1.8 per cent with respect to the previous three months.
Labour market conditions remain favourable. In May this year, the number of employed people rose, while that of unemployed persons decreased and that of inactive ones was substantially stable.
The country’s unemployment rate declined to 7.6 per cent in May.
Preliminary estimates show the Italian harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) increased by 6.7 per cent YoY in June.
