Monthly real UK GDP grows by 0.2% in Apr after falling by 0.3% in Mar

Monthly real UK gross domestic product (GDP) is estimated to have grown by 0.2 per cent in April this year, after a fall of 0.3 per cent in March. GDP grew by 0.1 per cent in the three months to April 2023 compared with the three months to January, according to the Office of National Statistics (ONS).

Monthly GDP grew by 0.5 per cent in April compared with the same month last year.

The services sector grew by 0.3 per cent in April, following a 0.5 per cent fall in March, and was the main contributor to the growth in monthly GDP in April.

Monthly GDP in the country is now estimated to be 0.3 per cent above its pre-coronavirus levels (February 2020), an ONS release said.

Production output fell by 0.3 per cent in April, after a growth of 0.7 per cent in March.

Monthly GDP grew by 0.3 per cent between March 2022 and March 2023.
