Signing FTI would benefit Bangladesh, says KCCI

Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) asked Bangladesh to implement Free Trade Agreement (FTA) as early as possible.

In a negotiation with delegates from Bangladesh, Haroon Farooki, president KCCI said though the two sides had signed many other agreements, effective implementation of these agreements were yet to be done.

He requested Bangladeshi delegation they should explain and help its government in implementing all the agreements including signing of FTA between two countries.

He said volume of trade between the two countries was not more than 12 to 13 percent.

Farooki mentioned some sectors like textiles, pharmaceuticals, leather, chemicals, IT, engineering goods and fertilizers in which major development could be realized by setting up joint ventures.

He also invited entrepreneurs of Bangladesh to take part in KCCI's Karachi Exhibition 2006.
