The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) has constituted a special committee to assist the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the textile industry to take full advantage of the restructured Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (R-TUFS).

“The four-member committee comprises of textile stalwarts from Surat like Devesh Patel, Mahesh Kapadia, Vijay Mevawala and Ashish Gujarati,” Mr. Paresh Patel, SGCCI President, told fibre2fashion.

The committee will help textile entrepreneurs resolve their grievances related to sanction of funds under R-TUFS.

“The R-TUFS scheme has been extended for a year till March 31, 2013. The next date is June 16, 2013, until which there will be a ‘black out’, i.e. no new funds would be sanctioned under TUFS during the intervening period,” informed Mr. Patel.

“TUFS related cases that are pending from earlier than March 31, 2012, need to have a unique number, for which some forms need to be filled up. The committee is supporting textile entrepreneurs in acquiring the unique Id from the bank,” he reveals.

“Secondly, the committee is collecting pending cases, which have not been resolved by the textile committee due to certain small issues, and submitting them once again. The purpose is to resolve the issues between the business community and the textiles committee. We have already submitted 100 such cases to the textile committee,” he adds.
