Textiles marking regulation is no longer fabric-centred, as the Ministry of Textiles' exercise of making textile-stamping regulation market-oriented is expected to envelop all textile products including garment and made-ups.

Earlier, the regulation was limited to fabric with special focus on cotton fabric.

Guarding the interest of consumer, this regulation is aimed at the quality of textile products bought in market.

The Ministry is likely to give its suggestions to the Ministry of Consumer Affairs at the end of this month, said Nagesh M. Mugadur, Joint Textile Commissioner, Mumbai.

It would also consider newer fabrics/fibre mixes used as well as fresh areas of textile applications like health care products especially the baby wares, while suggesting new quality criteria.
