Textile mafia jeopardize Nigerian exports

Evil traders smuggle goods by exporting textile materials under fake brands.

Deploring this wicked act, Executive Secretary of Nigeria Textiles Manufacturer Association (NTMA) Chief J. Peter Olanrewaju said that these smugglers-cum-traders use exact logo, name and sign of “Made in Nigeria” on the fabrics as the original company.

They take the fabrics of prominent Nigerian manufacturers to foreign countries for contract manufacturing, complained Olanrewaju.

This depressing development has challenged the integrity of Nigerian manufacturers and its business transactions abroad.

Such fabrics easily enter the market as their prices are low, and moreover they ruin the genuine textile products, their manufacturers and Nigerian economy, regretted Olanrewaju.

This trend demoralizes all efforts of Nigerian government on smuggling because the closure of China town in Lagos seems to create no positive impact on operators.
