Central Ministry of Textiles, in the wake of better policy decisions in industry, is to start counting power looms across the country, informed an official of the ministry.
The official also said that during this exercise, ministry would stress on gathering exhaustive data on type of loom operated, region where it is operated and number of imported looms.
This will help the ministry to review current situation and allow it to take better textile policy decisions, the official said.
The government has allowed import of 60,000 shuttle-less looms by 2007.
