Home textiles have consolidated its presence in domestic market also as Indian consumers with more disposable incomes that provides new market for such products.
Companies like Bombay Dyeing, Welspun and Alok Industries looking forward to take on this new opportunity.
These companies have drawn their own plans to capture home textiles market.
Bombay Dyeing, an old hand in this game, attempts to redefine its market strategy.
The company undertook its own review and came up with new concepts in the last year and half, informed Aloke Banerjee, Head, Domestic Business.
the company launched 35 new stores last year and plans to open larger stores all over the country.
As a result, company has 422 stand-alone stores at present.
Welspun has increased its manufacturing capacities both in towels and bed linen segment.
Akhil Jindal, President, Corporate Affairs, Welspun India said, last year, about Rs50 crore of Welspun's Rs450 crore business has come from local market.
With business flourishing at 15 percent per year, the company has also divided its business into four ranges based on affordability.
While Alok Industries will open 11 stores in local market by March-end, it expects to carry 15 percent of its business locally, by 2008.
