Pakistan Commerce Minister said, bilateral trade would continue on approved positive list of 773 items but is unlikely to open up for other items under South Asia Free Trade Agreement (SAFTA).
Products not included in positive list would not be imported under SAFTA agreement, said Humayun Akhtar Khan.
After approval of the treaty by the Pakistan Cabinet, Islamabad would not grant the most favoured nation (MFN) status to India, until other bilateral issues are resolved, he said.
Pakistan should not grant MFN status to India as even WTO overrules granting such a status to any country.
Pakistan did not confer the MFN status to India under WTO, and so the same could not be possible under regional agreement, he said.
SAFTA agreement among seven SAARC countries, would help in bringing down tariffs to 0-5 percent within the time limit to increase bilateral trade.
