In spite of government's reform policies for economic stability, Turkish textile industry faces uphill, sources sais.
Textile manufacturers need support from Turkish government to sustain them, opined Aynur Bektas, Chairwoman of Turkish Clothing Manufacturers Association (TGSD).
Bektas contends that cheap imports badly affect particularly the ready-wear clothing segment which provides livelihood to 2.5 million people in the country.
Commenting on government's support, Bektas said that it gives help in teaspoon and takes back revenues in ladle measure. She also urged government to cut tax rate to 15 percent, lower energy input prices by 50 percent and also lower civil service employment by 50 percent.
The association also asked for special Exim policy under which value-added tax should be reduced to 8 percent.
Bektas requested banks to finance textile companies to satisfy their capital requirement, without which industry could not continue for long.
