Indo-US alliance to explore textile market expansion

Indian and American textile industries are to put their heads together to explore avenues for bigger partnership at Context '06: Indo-US Textile Summit, signaling the beginning of another Indo-US alliance chapter.
The summit, a two day national event, is scheduled to be held in Ahmedabad starting March 18, said S A Dula, Chairman of Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, which has organised the event.
Chinese dominate American textile imports presently, even as the western world decries Chinese dumping.
Experts, policy-makers, technocrats and analysts from India and the US will discuss and explore means and ways to raise textiles exports in post WTO scenario.
While Reliance, Arvind Mills and Welspun representatives will discuss issues that affect them, executives from players such as Nike would provide insights about their requirements.
National Institute of Design, National Institute of Fashion Technology and Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad experts along with executives from KSA Technopak would present their views.
Tirupur Exporters Association, Mauritius, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka's representatives are expected to share their experiences.
The US textile market, opportunities in the post-quota scenario, branding of Indian textiles, retailing, are issues likely to be discussed at the two day event.
