Government was having discussions with China to restrict its import of textiles into South Africa.
in the event of such a deal being finalised, it will be on a temporary basis, said Elizabeth Thabethe Deputy Trade and Industry Minister.
The Industry should be ready to take advantage of such an eventuality if it arises, Thabethe said.
Government is putting in efforts to transform textile sector to be able to compete effectively in the global competition.
