Rajiv Gandhi Apparel Park to come up at the cost of Rs200cr

A hi-tech integrated textile park is planned in Salem and is proposed to be named after Rajiv Gandhi, informed local MP K V Thangabalu.
Shankersinh Vaghela, Union Minister for Textiles has cleared the project and has given the go ahead to name the park as Rajiv Gandhi Apparel Park Ltd.
The project will be financed through Textile Upgradation Fund (TUF).
Proposed park is scheduled to come up on a 100-acre land at a cost of Rs200 crore and construction will begin after Assembly elections, Thangabalu said.
Salem Exporters Association has also proposed for a garment export park and a textile park for weaving and processing industries.
