U.S. textile and apparel producers were forced to cut 3,300 seasonal jobs in February due to stiff foreign competition even as new restrictions were imposed on Chinese imports.
Domestic textile and apparel producers had employment stability in fourth quarter after suffering several years.
A trade deal which restricted 34 kinds of imports from China did bring some relief but it covered only 13 percent of country's apparel and textile imports by volume in January.
Charles McMillion President and Chief Economist at MBG Information Services said that loss of jobs will continue unless some drastic steps are not taken to save productions from imports.
