Uttar Pradesh Handicrafts and Handlooms Association has organized Kalanjali Craft Bazaar 2006, which was inaugurated by Nagercoil Municipal Chairman Meenadev.
Exhibition-cum-sale of handicrafts, hand-printed textiles and jewels and live demonstration will be held at the fair scheduled to run till March 28, said R Thufial, Manager of Kalanjali.
Exquisite handicraft items created by master craftsmen showcased the cultural heritage of Uttar Pradesh, he said.
The fair provided a platform to preserve and highlight the rich heritage of the crafts, Thufial said.
Handicrafts and Handloom Artists Association was putting efforts to promote handloom and handicrafts with a view to generate income for craftsmen of Uttar Pradesh.
Brass and iron art works, Pattollo silk sarees, cotton printed and hand embroidered sarees, bandini sarees and shawls, vegetable dyes, chain print bed covers, handicrafts of lacquer ware bangles, white metal articles, jute furniture, file holders, puppets and eco-friendly jute bags are some of the products on display at the fair.
