A garment village is proposed to be set up with financial assistance from the World Bank.
The Government and the World Bank will sign a deal by June under which the bank will forward $150 million for infrastructure for the proposed village alongside the Dhaleshwari River in Narayanganj.
Executive Chairman of Board of Investment (BoI) Mahmudur Rahman told reporters after finalizing the deal that two to three years will be required in developing infrastructure and utility facilities.
Initial negotiations with World Bank have already been completed, said Rahman.
Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) delegation met BoI Executive Chairman to expedite registration formalities to set up industrial units with easier recommendation process.
