CII report foresees that textile sector has potential to generate 1.4 million jobs in Andhra Pradesh (AP) by 2015.
Released by Y S Rajshekhara Reddy, Chief Minister of AP, the report reveals that spinning, weaving and garmenting will give jobs for 719000 persons.
Besides, handloom sector will also create 615000 jobs.
The report also analyses that with the elimination of quotas, textile exports likely to reach the wonder figure of $50 billion by 2010, while domestic consumption will grow two fold to $45 billion.
Moreover, cheap labour and quality production of cotton are major pluses for Indian textiles with encouraging Government policies for export activities.
Report emphasises that the state industry needs to invest Rs14,400 crore in the next four years and requires an additional Rs21,700 crore investment by 2015.
