Ambassador Allgeiers says US happy with Trade Policy Review

Ambassador Peter Allgeier, US Trade Representative to the World Trade Organization made the following observations during a tête-à-tête with the media in Switzerland, yesterday.

• US happy with the review on “openness of US Policy”
• US is the largest single importing country in the world
• US imported $2 trillion worth goods or $4 million every
minute
• US weighted average of tariff is 1.4 percent

free
• US annual growth rate was 3.3 percent on an average for 11
years since joining WTO
• US strongly committed to conclude the Doha Round this year
with an ambitious package
