If Indian textile industry wants to cash on quota-free market environment that came into existence after US and European countries ruled out restrictions on imports, the country needs to concentrate on quality of product and its quick delivery – the two factors decide value of textile industries in the country, said Dr D S Nadiger, Director (Laboratories), Textile Committee (TC), Mumbai.
Speaking on the inauguration of `Texcreative 2006', a national conference on textile at Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology (BIET), he said that after the implementation of Agreement on Textile and Clothing (ATC), the global market was open for Indian textile companies.
This change has benefited India and China in a big way, and the two countries turned into production centres and US and European countries serve as major consumer markets.
Moreover, competition between India and China had called for research and development (R&D), diversification of production base, product range and quick business response, Nadiger said.
