Chinese government expects the trade with Brazil to generate over US $20 billion in 2007, almost 65 percent up from $12.18 billion in 2005.

This prediction was made by Qian Xiaoqian, Deputy Minister of Communications, who is in Brazil to strengthen media relations and also develop new collaborations.

The Minister said that the maintaining strong relations was profitable and thus, important for both countries.

Xiaoqian also explained that the visit from José Alencar, Vice-President, Brazil, had helped boost confidence in China regarding their relations.

Since both the countries are big, not only geographically but also in every other area, there is an abundance trade potential which has not yet been fully explored.

Trade is still low and only sincere efforts from both sides will push it to new heights.

However, some Brazilian manufacturers believe that domestic industry is being harmed by cheap Chinese imports, especially that of footwear, textiles, electronic goods, eye-shades and such accessories.

Xiaoqian assured that these issues will be dealt with peacefully and a sensible agreement will soon be reached.
