Businesses positive on PM's India visit

Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Khaleda Zia, on her recent visit alongwith several business leaders of her country, considered the vist, an effort to strengthen bilateral trade between the two countries.

Business leaders of Bangladesh sought more investment to bridge the trade gap and also wanted easy access for goods across the borders.

Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) President Mir Nasir Hossain said that a Task Force has been formed by business leaders of India and Bangladesh.

The Task Force will identify barriers and its solution, and formation of Committee for Task Force will be completed within next 15 days, told Hossain.

During this high profile visit, Khaleda signed revised trade agreements to boost business across the borders.

Meanwhile, Bangladeshi businessmen have blamed that Indian businessmen have been reluctant to invest in Bangladesh and they also wanted removal of tariff and non-tariff barriers.

President of Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters' Association (BKMEA) Fazlul Hoque is optimistic about the visit and agreements signed by two nations.

Director of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters' Association (BGMEA) SM Fazlul Hoque seemed unsatisfied with the recent visit but also mentioned that it would lay a foundation for future talks and cooperation.
