IDA approves textiles & clothing zone

Industrial zone for textiles and clothing has got an approval from General Assembly of the Industrial Development Association (IDA).

This zone will be built in Borg al-Arab City, near Alexandria.

The zone will be a hub for Egyptian cotton, textile and clothing exports which has witnessed over US $120 million investment so far.

Textile industry is playing major role to develop country's economy, and it accounts 25 percent of total industrial exports.

Country has more than 5000 textile factories where LE20 billion has been invested.

As part of Government's export promotion measures, Ministry of Home, Foreign Trade and Industry are trying to boost country's textile sector as they want to cater to the European and global importers.
