MoU with US to tackle transhipment issue

Mari E Pangestu, Trade Minister, announced that an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) has been signed with the US customs services with both the countries agreeing to inform each other about the import and export of goods that are subject to maximum transhipment like the apparel and textile products.

She said that this deal with the US would help control problems like customs, textile transhipment and prevention of illegal logging.

She also explained that this cooperation was expected to be effective to tackle transhipment of Chinese textiles and shrimp using Indonesian certificates of origin.
