Pakistan & Mauritius mull over strategic trade ties

Spinning industry of Pakistan looks forward to establish units in Mauritius, said Zubair Malik Vice President Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI).
In an effort to bolster its textile units, Pakistani industry is ready to cooperate with Mauritius, Malik said during second Pakistan-Mauritius joint business council meeting.
He said there has been considerable progress on the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) that would focus on low rate of tariff and identify major products.
As the two sides are heading for greater trade and economic collaboration under the aegis of FPCCI and Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Pakistan would provide expertise to Mauritius workers for improvement of textile sector, Malik emphasized.
He also suggested that it was the right time that the trade volume between the two countries should be increased from the average present volume.
Yousuf Salemohamed, co-chairman Pakistan Mauritius Joint Business Council of MCCI said that Mauritius was interested in procuring cotton products from Pakistan besides exploring sectors like jewellery and gemstones, textile and clothing.
