Exemption from import duties and value-added tax on several goods is being looked into as part of a strategy to provide incentives to textile, electronic, footwear, food and beverage industries at home by Indonesia.
The incentives will be graded according to need of industries for a certain period till those industries recover, Erwidodo, Deputy Head of Ministry of Finance's tariff team was quoted as saying.
Reduction of luxury tax on electronic products is also included in incentive package.
The policy envisages deducting revenues from import duties and VAT but will increase income by levying tax on income, he said.
