Viscose filament yarn imported from China would attract Anti-dumping duty, according to a recommendation by Indian Commerce Ministry.

Product under consideration is viscose rayon filament yarn up to 150 deniers including mono filament yarn of less than 67 decitex also known as viscose filament yarn or VFY, rayon filament yarn, art silk yarn, cellulose yarn or rayon yarn and includes all yarns made of 100 percent viscose yarns such as dyed yarn, flat yarn, microfilament micro yarn, twisted yarn, doubled/multiple ply yarn etc of VFY variety.

Designated authority examined the consumption share of imports from China and arrived at the conclusions.

The share was 6.06 percent in 2001-02 which rose to 14.14 percent during period of investigation from January 1, 2004 to December 2004.

Imports from countries other than China decreased from 3.04 percent to 1.71 percent during the period of investigation, it was reported.

Because of lower demand than the production of viscose filament yarn in Chinese market, China started dumping the subject goods to Indian market as a result, imports of viscose filament yarn increased sharply, conveyed sources from the Commerce Ministry .
