SAFTA does not provide for MFN status to India

He said that this impression is not correct that items not mentioned in Pakistan's negative for SAFTA agreement would be allowed for import into Pakistan and will attract tariff concession for India.

Pakistan applies import tariffs on imports from India that are below compared to Pakistan's WTO-bound tariffs.There are no tariff or non-tariff barriers in Pakistan for Indian imports.

Pakistan prefers trade relations with India on reciprocal basis and equal terms or a level playing field. India discourages imports from Pakistan on plea of them being below standard.

India has placed all items of Pakistan's interest on its negative list under SAFTA agreement leaving no option to increase our exports to it.
