Workers for minimum national wage & reopening of mills

Workers of Private Jute, Cotton and Textile Mills of Bangladesh have raised their voice for minimum national wage similar to Government employees, at a press conference in city yesterday.
They demanded reopening of all closed mills and factories including jute mills immediately for sake of workers' future.
The leaders informed that private jute, cotton and textile mills and factories workers were leading an inhuman life, as they have been receiving just Tk 560 basic wage for almost 21 years now.
They were excluded from the National Wage Commissions in 1991, 1997 and 2006, they added.
Hedayetul Islam, Convenor of the Central Committee, said price hike in essential commodities have made it difficult for us to run our families with meagre amount of money.
He demanded payment of all arrears of the workers of the closed mills and factories.
Worker's leaders have chalked out demonstrations including gate rally in different mills and factories on May 28 and sit-in at Muktangan on June 12 in case their demands are not met.
Musa Mia, Joint Convenor of Central Committee, Shahidullah Khan, President of Mohsin Jute Mill, Khulna, Manirul Islam, President, Narshindi Jute Mill and different jute mill leaders were present at the conference.
