Vietnam is apparently setting up trial on 14 businessmen and officials, along with a former Deputy Trade Minister, charged in the illegal textile export quotas racket to the United States.
The clothing sector of the coutry was upset over the past two years laying serious allegations on trade ministry officials having received kickback from Vietnamese firms in their quest of quotas.
State officials announced that former Deputy Trade Minister, Mai Van Dau, who was detained for 'abuse of power' and caught taking inducement in November 2004, is currently serving his jail term.
Textiles are Vietnam's second major foreign exchange earner after crude oil, but clothing exports to the United States that is a significant market has been subject to quotas lay down by Washington.
