From June 2, 2006, European Commission's (EC) anti-dumping tariff on Vietnamese leather capped-shoes will be raised from 4.2 percent to a maximum of 16.8 percent, for next six months.
This decision has eveked strong protest and debate among EU members also.
Well-known shoes manufacturing countries like Italy and Portugal support the decision, as cheap imported products adversely affect their domestic footwear industry.
Meanwhile, six others, including Ireland, Belgium, England, France, Denmark and Holland, oppose this view.
Children-shoes manufacturers of these countries have formed a coalition to fight against EC, in the anti-dumping lawsuits.
