Minister for Local Self Government Institutions, Irrigation Minister, PWD Minister and the Industries Minister have received separate memorandums from various bodies of Thiruvananthapuram Township.
The Thiruvananthapuram Resident's Apex Council (TRAC) has urged the Government to promote the capital city to Metro status by including the suburban panchayats.
Council President Amaravila Ramakrishnan Nair asked the Government to remove a move to delink five panchayats from the city Corporation.
TRAC insisted to make use of the Vellayani Lake for supplying drinking water to the coastal areas and to increase the storage capacity of the Peppara and Aruvikkara dams by desilting them.
A demand for a Textile Park at Balaramapuram and restart of the handloom sector was put forth by TRAC.
It also projected to promote a trading system for handicrafts and coir workers in the district.
The council appealed the State Government to lay down a Fashion Technology Institute in the city.
Out of the enlisted demands, submitted to PWD Minister, two focal requirements were for an outer ring road and the development of the Thiruvananthapuram-Kottoor-Ambasamudram road.
