Eight new Special Economic Zones (SEZ) in Gujarat have got nod from Government of India. With approval of these 8 SEZs their total number in Gujarat reached 17.
Out of eight proposals, five SEZs projects have been given the go-ahead to acquire land and start developing infrastructure.
While, remaining three SEZs accorded 'in principle' approval, will be developed by Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC).
To get the approval, developers will have to provide detailed project report at the next meeting to be held in July.
From three SEZs which are given in-principle approval, one will be developed by Adani's near Dholera.
SEZ for apparel park in Ahmedabad and Surat will be developed in an area of 35 hectares and 60 hectares respectively, while in Gandhinagar, an electronics SEZ will be come up on 28 hectares of land.
There will be two multi products SEZs, one pharma SEZ to be developed by Cadila spread over 200 hectares of land near Dhandhuka in Ahmedabad, and while the other will be developed by Essar on 1,100 hectares of land near Jamnagar.
