If India, Pakistan and Bangladesh form a strategic partnership for multilateral business and trade, South Asia can emerge as a strong textile centre for the world, stated Haroon Farooki, President, Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), at the VII South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Trade Fair, 2006 in Karachi.

Stressing on the need of collaboration in time of globalization, Farooki pointed out that SAARC countries should not rely on European countries and must share technologies, expertise and resources to build a robust economy.

He requested India and Bangladesh not to engage in internal trade competition among the regional neighbours as products of these countries are unparalleled.

On trade ties between Pakistan and other SAARC countries, Farooki said that Pakistan has signed Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Sri Lanka and would also ink the same agreement with Bangladesh on July 26, this year.
