The International Federation For Alternative Trade (IFAT) awarded the Golden Path Project Partner to a Bogra NGO recently, recognizing its commendable achievements.
The Asian Heritage Foundation has been implementing the project with technical assistance of the Trade Craft, UK.
Polli Unnyan Prokolpo (PUP) an organization has been exporting 'Nakshi Khantha' and other products since 1986 to England, Italy, Japan, Denmark and some other countries in Europe, Asia and Australia and earned an amount of Tk 1.50 crores.
PUP produces Cotton and Silk Nakshi Kantha, Woolen Shawl, Silk Scarf, Table Cloth, Cushion Cover, Ladies Bag, Gift Items and Palm Fabric Basket with the support of distressed women at Latifpur Colony area in Bogra town.
Presently, 450 distressed women including some widows and divorcees run the organization.
PUP products are in good demand overseas but the organization lacks adequate money to run the business smoothly.
However, absence of a professional designer to direct the organization is marring its overseas prospects in generating business from home as well as from abroad.
