Govt. plans NMCP costing Rs956 cr to enhance textiles

The National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council (NMCC) and Ratan Tata-led Investment Commission would coordinate their work through periodic discussions in specific sectors, like textiles and garments, food and agro processing, and power sector.
Government has proposed a National Manufacturing Competitiveness Programme at a cost of Rs956 crores to enhance the competitiveness of the manufacturing sector, including the small-scale industries and with a view of their immediate potential for growth and employment.
The NMCC also supported the recommendations to increase foreign and domestic investments in the manufacturing sector to US $110 billion in the next five years.
