Committee set up to mobilize N50 billion to revive textile industry chaired by the Finance Minister, Mrs Nenadi Usman held its meeting wherein revival plan was discussed.
In her inauguration speech, Usman told that President Olusegun Obasanjo had chosen textile industry for revival as it employs largest number of people and its resurgence would decrease the volume of unemployment among the youth.
She further stated that president had visited Kaduna where he had come to know of the problems textile industry was facing and thus decided to constitute a committee to solve the issues facing the industry.
Representative of President of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Senator Jibril Waleed regretted the fact that factories operating had been reduced to 24 from 175.
