Experts believe that the Australian should draw hard-line, do hard-nosed negotiations with the Chinese, just as the Chinese are hard-line negotiators with them for the free trade agreement.

The country wanted a truly comprehensive deal from the cold, through preferential arrangements, those many sectors that have high aspirations for access to the world's fastest-growing economy but that have so far felt thwarted, overshadowed by the natural complementarity of sales of resources to China and imports of manufactures from China.

The importance of services was one of the reasons that China and Australia had agreed that the FTA should be comprehensive and that it should be completed on the basis of what is called a single undertaking.

All parts of the agreement have to be completed in order to reach overall agreement and thus the negotiation of outcomes for major sectors cannot be postponed.

FTAs can cover important areas beyond the World Trade Organization, such as investment, competition policy and regulatory issues.

Thus, in order to award significance of 'silk mark' label, the Silk Mark Organization of India had organized an awareness workshop and a cultural programme, 'Varshanjali', in Varanasi recently.

Several cultural functions, including musical performances would mark the occasion.

Silk Mark label has been a symbol of purity and would be a hallmark for products made from pure silk.

The affixation of this mark highlights qualifying standards which would eventually build consumer confidence in both domestic and export markets besides uniting the silk fraternity together.

The scheme covers all silk products of primary, intermediate and finished type such as raw silk, silk yarn, silk fabrics, saris, madeups, garments and silk carpets.
