Thailand is expected to sign Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with superpower Japan in the near future, official sources said.

Facing the increasing challenges of competitive pressures from other ASEAN countries like Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines, which is going to wrap up FTA signing with Japan, Thai Government has to speed up the talks with Tokyo to protect and improve its economic power.

Thai economic experts forecast that signing FTA with Japan would boost textile and garment goods exports earning almost 50 percent higher exports turnover than the present yield of 10 billion Baht a year.
