Expansion of textile industry is likely boost economic growth to 2 percent from 1.2 percent in 2005, informed Finance Minister, Timothy Thahane.

Textile industry's performance was plagued with the end of global quotas and stiff competition from India and China.

By taking this trend seriously, Government has reduced tax on income earned by garment manufacturers from exports outside southern Africa to save jobs.
