Kevin Andrews, the Workplace Relations Minister has said that he would request Federal Government to act on the recommendations of providing adequate protections to the outworkers.
The committee suggested these measures after it came to know that Government proposed a legislation of independent contractors, which will reduce the safety measures of workers working in textile, clothing and footwear sectors.
Andrews said that Government's intension was to safeguard the interests of outworkers and thus committee has recommended omission of a clause that looked contrary to Government's intention.
The enquiry has found out that workers in textile, clothing and footwear sectors were the most unguarded against dishonest employers as these workers are most likely to face abuse and exploitation than any other working group.
Opposition Labor party has said that it would support the amendments in the bill but is still opposed to the adoption of the bill as it just carries on the shaky system.
Minister's support for the changes has been broadly welcome by community groups, coalition of churches and unions.
