In a meeting of developing countries in Brazil this weekend, the US Trade Representative Susan Schwab would breathe new life into the beleaguered WTO.

According to her, it is high time for the developing nations to reciprocate to the United States proposed "bold" reform of its farming and market access policies.

She is actively seeking a new way forward for the Doha round, referring to the WTO's collapsed efforts to free up world trade.

Five years of talks at the WTO came to a halt in July when negotiators from six major players including the United States, European Union, India and Brazil agreed to disagree on the framework of an accord.

Schwab confirmed her presence at Sunday's meeting in Rio De Janeiro of trade chiefs from the "G20" club which actually comprises 21 countries: India, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, China, Cuba, Egypt, the Philippines, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Paraguay, South Africa, Thailand, Tanzania, Uruguay, Venezuela and Zimbabwe.
