Govt to provide subsidy for handloom

In order to promote handloom sector, Textile Ministry is to provide a subsidy of Rs50 lakh to people who will establish automatic weaving centres either at Gobichettipalayam or Sathyamangalam in Tamil Nadu, informed Union Minister of State for Textiles E V K S Elangovan.

He also announced that Government will help the farmers who move over to sericulture to encourage it. He further stated that their ministry was already in talks with Finance Ministry regarding Technology Upgradation Fund (TUF) which will end by March, 2007.
