Malaysian suppliers negotiated directly with foreign buyers during the incoming buying mission, which was held from September 13 to 16.

The mission attracted 156 buyers from 26 countries such as Albania, Algeria, China, France, India, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Thailand and Vietnam, in Kuala Lumpur.

With a recent trip by a group of foreign companies to Kuala Lumpur organized by Malaysia External Trade Development Corp (Matrade), a list of purchase orders for batik textile and apparels furniture, timber products, palm oil and palm oil products, processed food and building materials were enlisted.

A total, RM65.5 million sales were made during the mission while potential sales RM251.4 million are due to be concluded within a year.

This initiative was undertaken to assist exporters, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to expand and diversify their export markets.

Matrade now plans to increase its selling activity.

Matrade has a network of 33 offices around the world acting as representative offices for Malaysian SMEs.
