Govt. moots amalgamation of BICM mills with NTC

The merger of Kanpur-based British India Corporation Mill (BICM) with National Textile Corporation (NTC) by the Government is on the cards along with resurrection of two units of National Jute Manufacturing Ltd in Kinnison and Khardah.

Textile Minister, Shankarsinh Vaghela informed that revival of two units was under consideration by the Board of Reconstruction of Public Sector Enterprises.

The government has sanctioned Rs530 crore for the modernisation of 22 mills of NTC and it is likely to be completed by December, 2007. Meanwhile, NTC is going to construct India International Trade Tower on one of its mills in Mumbai.
